Blog Archive MBA News HBS Releases Class of 2015 Profile Harvard Business School has posted a preliminary look at its Class of 2015 profile this week, showing an increase in the number of applicants: 9,315 compared with 8,963 for the Class of 2014. Of those applicants, only 941 have enrolled, continuing a trend of growth in HBS’s class size over the past few years (913 in the Class of 2014; 905 in the Class of 2013). Nevertheless, the reported admittance rate is slightly lower than last years, at just 12%. In aggregate, financial services and venture capital/private equity represent nearly a third (30%, up slightly from 28% last year) of the class’s pre-MBA career areas, once again defying the myth that HBS is averse to finance candidates. Predictably, consulting is associated with the next largest portion of admits, at 19%. The remainder of accepted students represents a fairly equal mix of backgrounds, with 11% coming from high tech/communications, 7% from consumer products, 7% from industrial/heavy manufacturing and 7% from government/education/nonprofit. In today s world, perhaps one of the largest debates among human beings is privilege and gender equality. In both Macklemore’s â€Å"White privilege II†, and Michael Kimmel’s â€Å"Why Gender Equality is Good for Everyone, Men Included†, the authors evidently explained what white privileges are, how white privilege effects individuals of different race, and how gender equality can benefit men and women in their household and in the workplace. In Macklemore’s song he attempted to understand his place in black culture, specifically related to hip-hop music and Black Lives Matter protests. While in Michael Kimmel’s speech he attempted to explain white privilege and the benefits of gender equality for women as well as men by using stories of past experiences. When critically analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of both author’s tones, evidence, and overall strength of the body of work, I am boldly convinced that Michael Kimmel’s s peech is essentially the superior of the two authors. Though Macklemore’s song was relevant and had great connections to our everyday life, the author was very aggressive and lacked any source of credible evidence to his observations. Michael Kimmel’s speech did exhibit evidence, but it was often questionable. However, he does displayed great tone by appealing to humor, was very entertaining by keeping his audience eagerly intact, and communicated relevant stories

The game starts again and still no one can get the upper hand. At one stage, the ball went into the goals down my end but the player was outside of the circle so it doesn’t count. After that shot my team forced the ball down the other end, but still no goal. The game continues without any actual goals scored until the whistle blows for full time. Again. I move off to go shake hands with the other players, unsure what happens next since the game still ended a draw. Seeing the look of disappointment on my teammate’s faces and relief from the opposition, I could only guess. Even though it was a draw, the other team won because they were higher on the ladder.
